After a very wet April in Indiana the Hawkins Speed Shop Crew finally got to take the dragster out for some well needed testing. Fitting the new powerplant in the car required some minor changes for some of the old components as well as some new additions.

Our new motor package utilizes a Dart SHP block bored and stroked to make a 427 cubic inch small block chevy with 23 degree Dart Pro 1 heads, hydraulic roller camshaft from Crane, Eagle crank and rods connected to Mahle pistons, and a complete Milodon oil system. To top all of this off is a w200 Whipple supercharger making 12lbs. of boost at the moment. Fuel is supplied by a Magnafuel fuel pump and regulator combo feeding a Holley Ultra Dominator.

One thing for sure is the new powerplant looks good and sounds sweet! With only about ten total runs the car has run very consistent passes ranging from 5.03 to 4.97 in the 1/8 mile with speeds ranging from 135 to 137mph. With some more tuning and testing the car wil continue to improve.

Look for the Hawkins Speed Shop race team this summer at Muncie, Edgewater, and Tri-State Dragways and stop in and say hi.

As some of you may have noticed www.hawkinsspeedshop.com has a new look. We have incorporated the color scheme of our racing team and have made it even more user friendly. In the upcoming months we will continue to add more parts and features about the store and the work we do.

As a new year rolls in at Hawkins Speed Shop so does a new combination for our race car. Our old mill has served its purpose and it is time to move on. With Jordan maturing as a driver it's time to give him more power. We are back to runnig a large displacement small block chevy race engine, but this time adding a Whipple W 200 supercharger. Stay tuned for more information.
